If you're a restaurant owner (as opposed to a retailer) then you'll need to make variations of your core products, i.e. hot, medium, mild spice, via modifiers. Reasons for this include the fact that modifier groups can be set as global parameters that are set for one or more items. Modifiers can also be applied to a menu item at no additional cost, or an extra charge. For example, modifiers like white or brown rice can be free for the modifier group "side of rice," but fried rice could be one dollar extra.
